Lattice Boltzmann Framework for Modeling and Rendering Fluid Scenes
Tipo de evento: Exame de Qualificação
This work focus on an implementation of a LBM-based framework for modeling and rendering fluid scenes. The Lattice Boltzmann Methods (LBM) is based on the fundamental idea of constructing simplified kinetic models, which incorporates the essential physics of microscopic processes so that the macroscopic averaged properties satisfy macroscopic equations. In the case of fluid simulation, the microscopic processes mimic fluid particles interaction while for rendering such physics is related to transport processes. In this way, LBM offers an unified framework for simulation and rendering of fluids without the need of solving macroscopic fluid equations (Navier-Stokes) or light transfer equations. Moreover, the goal is that the framework might be used by animators. For this, the technique of the LBM shall be combined with methods of sketch-based modeling, which can provide an intuitive environment for the fluid animation generation.
